FOLLOW THE GOALS THAT MAKE YOU NERVOUS-- ON TRAINING & MOVING FORWARD

This past weekend I had a chance to head to Whitewater State Park for a little trail… and to try my new GoPro. LOL. I have been wanting a camera for a long time but could not decide between an actual fancy camera or a GoPro. Ultimately, I went with the one I would use the most— and I love it! It is fun, responsive and takes beautifully detailed photos. This state park was the perfect place to test it and this day was gorgeous!

This day was also my “zen run” day before my official trail running training begins today. After doing trail running for about 1.5 years, I am sure I LOVE IT! Therefore, I want to take my training to the next level. Before today, my training was rather haphazardly— just going out there and just running. But truly, I have not been disciplined about following a plan. So, I now have a professional trainer, and while I am nervous because I am not a spring chicken, I am sooooooo excited! I have big goals and I think this coach will be perfect for me, plus I realize that I need a structured training plan to get to the peak performance I want to.

What started this? My planner. My planner has a quote on the front cover that says “Follow the goals that make you nervous.” And so I am doing just that. It is a leap of faith, but I feel that this is the time to do it. The ultimate goal is doing my first 50K race in about 1.5 yrs. I am taking my time to ease into the mileage because I know my body, and I need to ease into it, so we are starting with 10K trail races and go from there. Ahhh!! I can’t believe I am doing this! But then again, I am crazy— so I can totally believe it! LOL.
